eCommLink to supply payment processing for Discover’s virtual eGift Card

Payments processing provider eCommLink will supply payment processing for Discover Financial Services’ eGift Card, a virtual prepaid card that can be used for purchases online or by phone, eCommLink says. Under the deal, eCommLink also will provide marketing and promotions support.

“This virtual-type card, augmented by the e-mail and text messaging features we are providing, is going to become more and more popular with busy, technology-savvy consumers,” says T. Jack Williams, president of eCommLink.

The eGift Cards, available in any denomination from $20 to $500, are immediately delivered to recipients by e-mail on purchase. Recipients can print or save their card online. An SMS text messaging mobile option lets eGift Card givers opt in to receive a text message when their gift is delivered.

A personalization option lets card-givers do virtual “embossing" with a name and personal greeting at the time the cards are purchased online. The card can be used at the millions of merchant locations that accept the Discover Card.

eCommLink, a unit of SellingSource.com Company, provides branded, full-service prepaid debit card solutions and card processing services. It currently supplies prepaid debit card processing for numerous financial institutions.
