NextCard`s February eCommerce Index: Flowers led the way

NextCard today released the February eCommerce Index of monthly online consumer spending. "Love was definitely in the air with three online flower sites ranking on the February Index. The convenience of online ordering and strong marketing campaigns placed 1-800-Flowers.com, Proflowers.com and FTD.com in the top twenty online merchants," said Christopher Tracy, vice president of e-commerce marketing at NextCard. "Both 1-800-Flowers.com and FTD.com performed better than last year." February was the first month that 1-800-Flowers.com has placed in the top five merchants. The NextCard eCommerce Index combines two components to reflect online transaction activity: 1) a large cardholder base of active online purchasers and 2) data-mining technology that tracks online credit card transactions.
