Shutterfly broadens its community technology base
Shutterfly Inc. is acquiring Nexo Systems Inc. for an undisclosed price.
Shutterfly, No. 93 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, is acquiring the Palo Alto, CA, company for its technology that allows users to create customized and rich content web sites. Nexo’s technology also enables online communities to create web sites with integrated e-mail communications, social networking and real-time group collaboration. Collaboration tools include shared calendars, forums, tasks, blogs, feeds, polls, photos, videos, and multiple file sharing.
“Photos play an important role in social expression and personal publishing,” says Shutterfly CEO Jeffrey Housenbold. “Nexo’s services will complement Shutterfly’s products and services and give customers more ways to share pictures taken with multiple cameras at special events.”
Nexo founders Craig Jorasch and Tom McGannon will join Shutterfly as vice presidents.
