FLAX art & design has discontinued its web sales channel to focus on its storefront in San Francisco. The company earlier had shuttered the Thomas Shipley business that carried corporate gifts online and offline.

FlaxArt.com wasn’t generating enough profit, the art supplies retailer says. FLAX is No. 492 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

FLAX had total web sales of $6.3 million in 2006, according to Internet Retailer estimates.
