iSold It opens its 100th eBay drop-off store

ISold It LLC, operator and franchiser of eBay drop-off stores, has opened its 100th location in 18 months in a chain spanning more than 25 states and expects to have 200 locations by year end, the company said.

“This helps us to build important barriers to entry in the category and is similar to the development strategy I led at Mail Boxes Etc., where we grew from 900 to 3,000 stores in the early 1990s,” said CEO Ken Sully, former executive vice president at Mail Boxes Etc.

ISold It also said it has released new proprietary store operating software, Store Activity Management, which it developed for about $1 million over the past year and is designed to streamline store operations, reduce labor costs and provide management reporting tools. The software also interfaces with the checkout process at eBay.com and 3rd-party systems for shipping price calculations and check-processing. “Our goal is to drive the total time it takes to process each item in our stores down to only a few minutes, and this software moves us closer to that goal,” Sully said.

ISold It is one of many organizations formed over the past few years that let consumers drop off items for sale on eBay.com.

Ironically, iSold It’s biggest competitor is AuctionDrop, which offers its own eBay drop-off services through the more than 3,000 UPS Stores, which are converted Mail Boxes Etc. locations. UPS acquired Mail Boxes Etc. two years ago.
