Rockville, MD-based Manugistics Group Inc. has named Stephen Poplawski as vice president of retail, one of the company’s four strategic business units. Poplawski joins Manugistics from 25 years at Sears Roebuck & Co.
Poplawski, whose background includes supply chain logistics, inventory management and process re-engineering, will manage Manugistics’ retail initiatives, including sales strategy and product direction.
At Sears, Poplawski held a variety of senior level management positions, including vice president of merchant operations. In that position, Poplawski was responsible for the design and implementation of supply chain systems that allowed merchandise to be sold and distributed across disparate Sears and Kmart networks one week after two companies merged. Poplawski also held the position of vice president of merchandise planning, where he implemented Sears’ largest single year turnover and in-stock improvement and developed and implemented postponement, redeployment and liquidation strategies that resulted in significant inventory reductions and savings.
Manugistics is a developer of supply chain and revenue management systems. Retailer clients include Canadian Tire, Circuit City, LL Bean, Limited Brands and Sears.
