Web Users Online for More than One Hour Daily
Americans spent an average of 77 minutes online and viewed an average of 50 different web pages per usage day during August, according to figures just out from New York-based MediaMetrix. Usage at portal sites continued to dominate the monthly survey of traffic at top web sites and digital properties, with AOL leading the way with more than 79 million unique visitors during August, followed by Yahoo! at 63 million visitors and Microsoft sites at 52 million for the month. In other findings, the survey determined that more than 39 million Americans went online during an average day in August, with users spending an average of 19 hours online for the month and just over one minute per unique web page viewed.
