Overstock.com leads in traffic growth in May among shopping/travel sites
Overstock.com experienced the largest increase in site visitors among the top 10 online shopping and travel locations in May, with visits jumping 49% to 11.5 million from 7.7 million a year earlier, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. However, Overstock.com posted the lowest number of site visits.
Target came in second in terms of growth, with visits increasing 41% to 14.4 million from 10.3 million; followed by Dell, up 17% to 14.3 million from 12.2 million; Wal-Mart Stores, up 12% to 13.3 million from 11.9 million; Amazon, up 8% to 34.3 million from 31.7 million; eBay, up 5% to 51 million from 48.4 million; Travelocity, up 5% to 12.7 million from 12.2 million; Expedia, up 4% to 17.9 million from 17.2 million; and Shopping.com Network, up 3% to 16.2 million from 15.7 million.
Orbitz was the only site in the top 10 to experience a decline in visits, dropping 13% to 11.6 million from 13.4 million.
EBay experienced the most visits in May, followed by Amazon, Expedia, Shopping.com; Target, Dell, Wal-Mart Stores, Travelocity, Orbitz, and Overstock.com.
In the top 10 ranked by time per visit, eBay led with 2 hours, 5 minutes and 5 seconds; followed by Amazon, 19 minutes, 49 seconds; Dell, 18 minutes, 14 seconds; Travelocity, 16 minutes, 6 seconds; Expedia, 13 minutes, 25 seconds; Overstock.com, 12 minutes, 3 seconds; Orbitz, 11 minutes, 59 seconds; Wal-Mart Stores, 11 minutes, 53 seconds; Target, 10 minutes, 15 seconds; and Shopping.com, 3 minutes, 17 seconds.
Also in May, Hydroderm Beverly Hills had the most online ad impressions among the top 10 consumer goods advertisers, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report. The leading companies and their number of impressions (in millions) are:
