All TiVo broadband subscribers can now browse, purchase and rent Amazon Unbox movies and television shows directly from the TV screen via their TiVo box. The service is available to all broadband-connected TiVo Series2 and Series3 subscribers.
“We are excited to make Amazon Unbox on TiVo even easier to use by making it possible to purchase and rent movies and TV shows not only on the Web but also with your remote control,” says Roy Price, director, Amazon Unbox.
In addition, Amazon Unbox integrates with TiVo’s new search function, Universal Swivel Search, which allows viewers to seamlessly link from descriptions of one program to all others that have common elements, including program name, actors, or suggestions based on other viewers’ feedback.
To promote the new “Buy on TV” feature, new customers will get an additional $15 discount when they purchase any TiVo Series2 tuner box, with a service plan, before July 23, 2007. TiVo service starts at $99.99, after mail-in rebate and service commitment at Amazon.com, No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, and other consumer electronic stores.
Amazon Unbox movie rentals range in price from $1.99 to $3.99 and can be purchased for $9.99 to $14.99. Thousands of television shows also are available for $1.99 per episode.
