Online sales were up 23% for the week ending June 19 over the corresponding week a year ago, reaching $1.34 billion from $1.09 billion, comScore Networks Inc. reports.
By comparison, total retail sales for the week ending June 18 were up 8.71% from the same week a year ago, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate. ShopperTrak reports the increase was the 23rd weekly sales increase out of 24 total weeks in 2005. It attributed the strong growth that week to Father's Day buying and the arrival of warmer summer weather across most of the nation.
Online travel sales for week ending June 19 were up 22% to $1.12 billion from $923 million in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
