Visa U.S.A. names new president and CEO
John P. Coghlan, former vice chairman of investment firm Charles Schwab and Co., takes over today as the new president and CEO of Visa U.S.A. He replaces Carl F. Pascarella, who is retiring after serving as Visa’s top executive since 1993.
Coghlan, 47, will oversee strategy and be responsible for day-to-day operations at Visa U.S.A., the U.S. arm of Foster City, CA-based Visa International.
Coghlan worked at Charles Schwab for 17 years. He was a member of its executive committee and president of the board of directors of The Charles Schwab Trust Co., a subsidiary.
Before joining Schwab, Coghlan co-founded and served as the chief operating officer of San Francisco-based Grocery Express Ltd., a direct-response catalog grocery-delivery company.
