Yahoo! hits the slopes

Sports Outdoors' Ski and Snow section is beefing up for Old Man Winter by making up to the minute reporting on ski and weather conditions across the country available online and through wireless devices and using the traffic to drive skiers and snowboarders to Gear Finder, a Yahoo merchant that sells and provides price comparisons on boots, bindings, snowboards and more. "Wireless alerts , a new approach that offers offer real time information, along with alerts through e-mail and instant messenger, will help keep skiers aware of changing mountain conditions that might dramatically impact their day," says Susan Nesbitt, producer, Yahoo! Sports Outdoors. The Gear Finder link from Yahoo!, meanwhile, provides searches on leading winter mountain sports equipment brands such as Saloman, Rossingol and Telemark.
