Deal with Zazzle allows MySpace musicians to sell on-demand merchandise

Musicians and bands on MySpace now can create products and sell merchandise through Zazzle, an on-demand retail platform that offers one-of-a-kind products shipped within 24 hours.

Under the deal between MySpace and Zazzle, the 6 million musicians and bands on MySpace can sell merchandise by putting Zazzle’s Merch Booth widget on their MySpace profile. Using Zazzle’s new “Model Realview” technology, artists can display their own branded merchandise three dimensionally on real models in their profile.

The Zazzle Merch Booth widget also will enable the placement of the artist’s merchandise on a section of the Zazzle site featuring customized products known as the Zazzle Gallery, on their own web sites, fan sites, blogs and other online venues. MySpace users also can use Zazzle to create custom items for their favorite musicians and bands, such as t-shirts and posters. There are no upfront costs, fees or contracts involved.

“The landscape of the music industry continues to change at a rapid pace,” says Jim Heckman, chief strategy officer, Zazzle. “Merchandise and ticket sales are the one constant revenue source for artists on any level. We are thrilled to be working with MySpace to provide an accessible solution to bands large and small for their merchandise needs.”
