Online shopping portal Ebates gets a new head of sales and marketing


Markus Mullarkey has joined Ebates as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Ebates is the 9th largest online shopping portal, according to traffic rankings from comScore Networks Inc.

Mullarkey joins Ebates from CNET Networks, where he held several executive positions through six years with the company. Most recently he was responsible for marketing and business planning for the company’s largest business unit—Shopping Services & Advice—where he led consumer and industry marketing efforts for CNET & mySimon.

He has held other positions leading CNET Networks’ business development team, which he joined in 2000 when CNET Networks acquired his former employer, ZDNet, and CNET Networks’ e-mail marketing products group.

Before joining ZDNet, Mullarkey held various marketing and management roles at Procter & Gamble, E. & J. Gallo Winery and the Boston Consulting Group.

Mullarkey will oversee all marketing activities, including member acquisition and retention programs, merchant outreach programs and advertising sales. He will also manage the company’s product and business development activities.
