MVP.com Buys Outdoor Niche

Chicago-based online sports retailer MVP.com today announced plans to acquire Boulder, Colo.-based PlanetOutdoors.com to build its outdoor sporting gear category. MVP.com, whose advisory board is led by leading sports figures Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan and John Elway, plans to promote the PlanetOutdoors.com site as well as its connection through the MVP.com site. PlanetOutdoors.comâs financial backers will invest in additional funding in the combined company. The companies did not disclose terms of the acquisition. MVP.com also owns Igogolf.com and Tennisdirect.com.
