Toshiba Picks 800.COM
800.COM Inc., an online retailer of consumer electronics and home entertainment products, has been authorized by Toshiba America Consumer Products to sell the full line of Toshiba-branded consumer electronics products online. Portland, Ore.-based 800.COM says it is the first Internet-only retailer approved to sell and deliver Toshiba consumer electronic products, such as DVDs, VCRs, telephones and televisions, including digital high-definition TV.
Toshiba says that 800.COM is the only "pure" Internet retail site that it will authorize through the end of 2000. It will list 800.COM as an authorized retailer on the Toshiba web site and provide a direct link to the 800.COM site.
Previously, both Sony, Pioneer and Kenwood each selected 800.COM as their first authorized Internet-only retailer of electronics products, the company says.
