Webvan Group Inc. and HomeGrocer.com have received notification of the early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 applicable to the proposed merger of the two companies. The expiration of that waiting period is a condition to the completion of the merger.
In late June, Webvan, Foster City, Calif., and HomeGrocer, Kirkland, Wash., announced a definitive merger agreement under which Webvan will acquire HomeGrocer.com in a stock-for-stock transaction. The merger unites two online retailers of groceries and other products that have personalized delivery capabilities. The combined company will operate under the name Webvan Group Inc.
