UPS`s Q2 package volume rises 4.1%, while revenue per package is up 4.7%
UPS handled 4.1% more packages in the second quarter compared to Q2 a year ago, with the daily average reaching 14.1 million packages, up 557,000 from a year ago, the company reports. Worldwide average revenue per piece grew 4.7%, the company reports. Revenue in the quarter reached $10.19 billion, up 14.9% from $8.87 billion a year earlier. The growth was partly due to the acquisition of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding late last year, the company says. Net income totaled $986 million compared to $818 million a year earlier. Operating profit rose 18.2% to $1.55 billion compared to $1.31 billion for the prior-year period.
UPS also reports:
ƒÞ International package revenue increased 22.7% to $2 billion. Export volume grew 18.2%. Average revenue per piece increased 9.4%.
ƒÞ U.S. package revenue grew 5.7% to $6.94 billion on 3.2% volume growth. Pricing remained firm with an increase in average revenue per piece of 2.4%.
ƒÞ Revenue for the supply chain segment increased 84.9% to $1.25 billion primarily through the addition of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding.
