Sur La Table names Jack Schwefel as president

Sur La Table Inc. has appointed Jack Schwefel as president.

Among his new duties will be overseeing the company’s e-commerce operations. Schwefel joined Sur La Table in May as vice president of retail stores, overseeing retail store operations, culinary operations, design and construction and stores.

In addition to e-commerce, Schwefel will also be in charge of Sur La Table’s retail, culinary and catalog operations. Additionally, he will manage human resources, marketing, information technology and new retail store site selection and development. Schwefel reports directly to CEO Kathy Tierney.

Prior to Sur La Table, Schwefel was executive vice president - North America of Esprit International. He previously held positions as vice president and regional sales manager for Kohl`s Department Stores and as regional director/zone operations manager for Old Navy. Schwefel also worked internationally as a regional manager for Gap in Japan and France. He began his retail career with Toys "R" Us in New York and Toronto.
