Mall.com, WeMedia Team Up To Offer Web Shopping For The Disabled

Online shopping destination Mall.com and WeMedia Inc., a media company serving people with disabilities, have formed a partnership positioning Mall.com as the exclusive retail shopping mall on WeMedia.com. A portion of all purchases made on the WeMedia Mall will be donated back to disability-related nonprofit organizations through the We Foundation, the nonprofit division of WeMedia. WeMedia has a network of partnerships and affiliations with more than 45 nonprofit groups that will benefit from the contributions from the WeMedia Mall.

     Along with a new, redesigned homepage, Mall.com recently launched the Unified Shopping Bag, an online shopping feature allowing customers to add products from their retail partners to their shopping cart and purchase with a single checkout. In addition, Mall.com offers complete purchase history information to its consumers and retail partners, allowing users to track purchase confirmation, shipping, and billing information. Added options include making a personalized wish list to post on the Web or send to friends and family and special occasion reminders for important dates.

     Austin, Texas-based Mall.com has more than 120 department and specialty stores on its site, including Neiman Marcus, Sports Authority, and FAO Schwartz. WeMedia. Launched in December 1999, is an online resource for people with disabilities, their families and friends. The new Web site provides the disabled community with targeted and comprehensive information and resources in the areas of finance, real estate, travel, news, sports, employment, technology, advocacy and education, among other areas. As the official Webcaster of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, WeMedia Sports will provide the first live webcast of an Olympic or Paralympic event, it says. In addition to print and interactive outlets, WeMedia will distribute content through broadcast and wireless mediums.
