Moosejaw.com streamlines image production effort with Scene7 technology


Outdoors gear retailer Moosejaw.com says it expects to cut the cost of creating product images for its site by 60% after implementing hosted dynamic imaging from Scene7. The technology provider’s hosted service will add dynamic zoom, re-sizing and color swatches across all images on Moosejaw’s site.

“You can change colors and zoom in from a single view, making a seamless shopping experience for our customers, which we expect will help increase our online revenues,” says Jeffrey Wolfe, the owner of Moosejaw.com

The dynamic imaging capacity will replace Moosejaw’s manual production process for preparing images for the web site, which required it to obtain an image from a supplier and then create at least three different sizes of image per color, per product. “That resulted in about 15,000 different image variations every six months,” says Wolfe. Because Scene7 technology dynamically generates every variation from one master image, Moosejaw will cut that number to about 5,000 images, Wolfe adds, equaling a projected time and cost savings of some 60% off its previous system for producing product images for the site.
