Auto parts sales rev up at eBayMotors.com
EBay Inc. is becoming a major retailer in many categories. It revealed today that automotive parts sales at eBayMotors.com exceed $500 million a year and the category is one of the fastest growing in all of eBay, with 121% growth in the past year.
EBay revealed the statistics as part of its marketing presence at the 2002 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas this week. EBay says an automotive part or accessory is sold at eBayMotors.com every four seconds, more than 1.4 million parts and accessories are available every month and eBay Motors receives over 7 million unique visitors each month
As part of the marketing at the show, eBay will be featuring a makeover of a 1986 Chevrolet 4x4 pickup truck that was purchased in August on eBay Motors.
"eBay Motors has an unmatched ability to satisfy both parties in the transaction," said Drew Lieberman, director of parts, eBay Motors. "The seller is provided a high volume of qualified potential buyers who are looking to purchase what the seller is looking to sell. The buyer is afforded greater selection and value through the more than 300,000 parts and accessories available on the site.”
