Amazon.com is expanding its music-sampling service under a deal with Loudeye Corp, which offers a catalog of more than 3 million music samples from more than 250,000 CDs, Amazon said today.
Jeff Somers, senior merchandising manager for Amazon’s music store, said Amazon chose Loudeye because it offers the most extensive music catalog available and the most timely access to newly released material. “Offering sample music clips for our customers is an important part of the shopping experience in Amazon.com’s music store,” he said.
A spokesman for Loudeye said it will replace a smaller sampling service that Amazon has been using from Muse Inc.
