Seven of the top ten hardware manufacturer sites experienced increased visits in June, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Linksys led the group, with visits increasing 56% to 1.24 million from 792,000 in June 2004.
Toshiba experienced the second largest increase, with visits increasing 54% to 1.44 million from 934,000 a year earlier; followed by Dell, up 37% to 15.36 million from 11.2 million; Apple, up 29% to 24.3 million from 18.8 million; Gateway, up 15% to 3 million from 2.6 million; IBM, up 5% to 2.6 million from 2.5 million; and palmOne, up 1% to 1.62 million from 1.61 million.
The sites that experienced a decrease in visits were Sun Microsystems, down 23% to 1.7 million from 2.2 million, and Hewlett Packard, down 5% to 11.7 million from 12.3 million.
Apple recorded the most traffic, followed by Dell, Hewlett Packard, Gateway, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Mylinks.com (1.6 million), palmOne, Toshiba and Linksys.
In the top 10 ranked by time per person, Toshiba led with 1 hour, 21 minutes, 3 seconds; followed by Apple, 56 minutes, 20 seconds; Dell, 19 minutes, 53 seconds; IBM, 19 minutes, 52 seconds; palmOne, 15 minutes, 56 seconds; XM Satellite Radio, 14 minutes, 13 seconds; Hewlett Packard, 13 minutes, 22 seconds; TiVO, 11 minutes, 44 seconds; Nintendo, 9 minutes, 21 seconds; and Alienware.com, 9 minutes, 21 seconds.
Also in June, the Books, Movies & Music category had the most online ad impressions in the retail goods and services industry, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance Report. The leading segments and their number of impressions in millions:
