TechnoScout brings a new meaning to Santa and click, click, click

TechnoBrands Inc.’s TechnoScout.com continues to search for new ways to leverage its site technology to better market to and serve customers. One of its latest creations: An image of Santa and his reindeer offering discounted prices while “flying” across its home page. Shoppers who click on the Santa enter a live-chat session with a customer service rep.

The lure from Santa and the immediate connection with a live-chat session is an example of how TechnoScout strives to dazzle shoppers with technology while being on the forefront with customer service. “Our site brings dynamic content that responds to each visitor individually,” says Joel Skretvedt, director of Internet operations.

Most of the technology it presents to shoppers, of course, is made up of the leading-edge products it offers for sale. But as with its ambitious live-chat service, its products are presented in a way that combines marketing with a strong dose of consumer education. Its home page, for example, always features a product of universal appeal presented in the form of a news article that explains in detail the product’s advantages. A recent article, for example, featured the high-tech characteristics of a “smart bed” visco-elastic foam sleeping surface developed by NASA.

“They offer interesting products, and you can get more information on products they are investigating,” says Kathryn Cullen, an analyst with Kurt Salmon Associates.
