Verified by Visa’s volume totals $7 billion in first half of 2005
Verified by Visa, Visa’s cardholder authentication service, had $7 billion in volume during the first half of the year, the card association says. That was a 194% year-over-year increase.
Of transactions at Verified-by-Visa merchants, 38% are fully authenticated. The average Verified by Visa transaction totaled $173.
Visa is continuing to focus on growing the merchant base for the program, says Michael W. Yakel, vice president of new market development. Merchants signing on to the program this year include NASCAR, Major League Baseball, and Continental Airlines, he says.
More than 56,000 merchants worldwide are enrolled in Verified by Visa, the company says.
