60% of online coupon users will shop online this year, new study says
The Internet has become an important tool to web users, say the results of a survey of members of CoolSavings Inc. 61% of CoolSavings members said they will do some of their holiday gift buying online this year, with 45% saying they will buy a fourth of their gifts online and 12% saying they will do half of their buying online.
The web is as important as a research medium, says CoolSavings. 82% of respondents say they will research some of their gift purchases online. 18% said they will research all their purchases online.
"The holiday shopping season is short this year, and our survey indicates that whether consumers are making purchases online or in a brick-and-mortar store, they are using the Internet as a research tool to help save time and guide purchases," said Matt Moog, CEO of CoolSavings. "This growing convergence between offline and online channels for consumers is a key indicator of how ingrained the Internet has become in people`s lives. From purchasing to product research, the Internet is now an important part of the consumer buying cycle."
CoolSavings, an online coupon company, conducted the online survey between Sept. 18 and Oct. 8. The survey sample comprises 4,230 unique respondents.
