Manufacturers and retailers of consumer electronics continue to transact more business on the web, which will account for $121.21 billion, or 7% of total industry trade of $1.7 trillion next year, according to eMarketer. It projects an increasing rate of growth in the industry’s b2b web commerce through 2005.
“As leading adopters of e-business solutions, consumer electronics manufacturers have placed a priority upon strengthening their value chains,” said Steve Butler, senior analyst at New York-based eMarketer.
EMarketer said b2b web commerce in the consumer electronics industry has grown from $47.75 billion, or 3.4% of total industry trade of $1.4 trillion in 2001, to $79.77 billion, or 5.2% of total trade of $1.5 trillion this year.
The research firm projects the industry’s b2b web commerce will reach $167.55, or 8.8% of total industry trade of $1.9 trillion in 2004, and $214 billion, or 10.1% of total trade of $2.1 trillion in 2005.
