HP Store uses Accenture to open an eBay store
Hewlett-Packard Co. has opened an online store on eBay.com to sell refurbished desktop computers, laptops, printers and other products. Of the more than 40,000 designated stores on eBay, HP’s is one of 20 developed and operated by management consulting firm Accenture.
HP began selling through eBay early this month through both auctions and fixed-price sales. The eBay HP store, which is listed as HP_Factory_Outlet, also sells refurbished products such as handhelds and low-end servers.
HP also offers refurbished products through auction and fixed-price sales through its own HPFactoryOutlet.com, which has a direct link from HPShopping.com. But it already has far more refurbished items listed on its eBay store, which is at www.stores.ebay.com/hpfactoryoutlet.
Accenture is providing HP with a Connection to eBay Selling Strategy and Management system, which developed and now manages the presentation of an eBay-specific assortment of HP products, pricing and listing strategies, and customer e-mail inquiries. It also provides pre-sales customer service, including an online Frequently Asked Questions section and information on store policy. In addition, Accenture provides HP with reports that summarize sales activity, including volume and profit, and customer service activity.
HP is handling its own warehousing and logistics services, though Accenture also makes these services available as well. Other clients that Accenture has connected to eBay include Reed`s Jewelers, Chadwick’s of Boston Inc., GearDirect.com, and Time-Warner’s Synapse Connect magazine subscription service.
