Wages for IT professionals dip in Q2 year-over-year
Average wages for IT professionals dipped by 1.2% year-over-year in the second quarter, though they’re up more than 5% since 2001, according to the Yoh Index of Technology Wages.
"We continue to see signs of strength in the high tech hiring environment as the nationwide unemployment rate drops to its lowest point since 2001," said Jim Lanzalotto, vice president of strategy and marketing for Yoh. "However, high tech wages have not yet responded in kind, but have remained flat at best. We will be actively watching trends over the next quarter to see if a correlation eventually develops between increased hiring and wages."
Among the IT positions in highest demand, and their average hourly pay rates are:
Applications development, $54.52
ASP.Net $50,90
Cisco engineer, $47.88
Java developer, $52.59
Network security, $65.01
Oracle DBA, $53.81
