Ticketmaster and iTunes revive their buy-a-ticket-get-a-tune deal
It’s a match made on the Internet. Ticketing company Ticketmaster is offering buyers of select digital albums from iTunes first dibs on tickets by those artists. In addition, Ticketmaster is offering a free song on iTunes with every concert ticket that a music fan purchases. Such an arrangement would be very cumbersome without the tracking ability of the Internet.
The program builds on an agreement that Ticketmaster and iTunes had last year in which fans who pre-ordered new albums from Bob Dylan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers on iTunes.com had the first chance to purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.com. The deal helped both albums to debut at number one on the Billboard charts, according to Ticketmaster and iTunes.
Ticketmaster is a unit of IAC/InterActiveCorp, No. 23 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. ITunes is part of Apple Inc., No. 15 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
