FRISCO, Texas--Oct. 26, 2004--Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. has successfully completed the MasterCard Site Data Protection (SDP) compliance testing process. As an SDP-compliant vendor, Fujitsu is certified to help retailers evaluate the security of IT systems and media that store cardholder account information to ensure online merchants` compliance with the MasterCard Security Standard. Fujitsu is also qualified to evaluate merchants` compliance with Visa`s Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP).
By June 2005, MasterCard will require online merchants processing over $125,000 in monthly MasterCard gross volume to perform an annual self-assessment and quarterly scan. By March 2005, Visa will require all online merchants processing more than 500,000 Visa transactions a year to complete an annual compliance questionnaire and quarterly system scan. Failure to comply with the security standards may result in fines, restrictions or permanent prohibition from participating in the card acceptance programs.
Fujitsu is believed to be the first major retail IT vendor to offer customers a network vulnerability scan that enables retailers to assess - and fix if necessary - their compliance with the new cardholder data security requirements established by both MasterCard and Visa.
"Retailers whose customers shop online are vitally concerned about protecting shoppers` credit card information, and Fujitsu`s goal is to make it easy and painless to ensure retailers` online channels are as secure as possible," said Doug Wallace, senior vice president of client operations for Fujitsu. "Network security auditing is yet another example of the many ways that Fujitsu is extending its reach across the retail enterprise to position itself as a `one-stop-shop` for IT systems and services. Our managed services portfolio provides the network security tools to help retailers secure their invaluable business platforms, reduce the risk of intrusion and protect their customers` sensitive personal information."
MasterCard Site Data Protection Program
The MasterCard Site Data Protection Program is designed to help online merchants better protect against hacker intrusions and account data compromises. The program takes a proactive approach to security by identifying common possible vulnerabilities in a merchant Web site and makes recommendations for short- and long-term security improvements. The solution addresses the security issues that online merchants and their acquiring banks face in the virtual world, and concerns arising from these issues, such as Internet fraud, chargebacks, brand image damage, consumer information safety and privacy and the cost of replacing stolen account numbers.
MasterCard vendor certification involves a two-step process. Vendors must first complete an online application form that provides MasterCard with an overview of the applying organization, along with a detailed assertion by the security vendor that their solution complies with or exceeds the requirements of the MasterCard Security Standard. After successfully applying for compliance testing, vendors must undergo a rigorous evaluation cycle that spans a wide range of Web servers, firewalls and operating systems, in an environment controlled and managed by MasterCard.
Visa will accept system perimeter scans performed by scan vendors that have been qualified by MasterCard and are included on MasterCard`s Compliant Security Vendor List.
