Comparison shopping site Shopzilla has promoted William G. Glass from chief operating officer to president. He succeeds John Phelps, who has served as president since shortly after Shopzilla was acquired by The E. W. Scripps Co. in June 2005, and prior to that was the company's chief operating officer.
Both Phelps and Farhad Mohit, Shopzilla's co-founder and chief product officer, will assist with the management transition, after which they will leave their operating roles, the company reports. Mohit will retain the title chairman emeritus.
Glass joined Shopzilla in March 2004 as vice president of operations and was named senior vice president of consumer product operations in December 2004. He was named chief operating officer in October 2005.Before joining Shopzilla, Glass was an executive of Flipside Inc., an online game media division of Vivendi Universal.
Shopzilla, formerly BizRate.com, has an index of more than 35 million products from more than 87,000 online stores.
