Ask Jeeves, PriceGrabber launch comparison shopping service
Ask Jeeves Inc.’s AskJeeves.com will offer a comparative shopping service provided by PriceGrabber.com, the two companies said today. The service will let shoppers compare products in nine categories, including books, computers and toys by specific characteristics such as technical features, price and manufacturer.
The service will enable shoppers to also get the costs of sales taxes and shipping for a particular item by entering a ZIP Code. Other product categories covered by the service so far are consumer electronics, movies, music, software, video games and office products. The companies said additional categories would be added over time.
Ask Jeeves is also promoting the service as a new shopping channel accessible by a “Shopping” tab on its home page. The service can be used by simply entering a product query into the Ask Jeeves search engine. The service is also available on Ask Jeeves’s Ask.com.
