RadioShack Canada connects stores and HQ with a new web portal

RadioShack Canada has deployed a web portal for its stores that eliminates paper-based operations, such as distribution of sales reports and the processing of HR documents, the retailer said today. The CleverPath portal from Computer Associates International is expected to substantially reduce administrative costs and improve financial performance through better communication among employees and dealers, said Margo Weeks, vice president of information systems.

The portal has enabled RadioShack Canada to quickly roll out secure, personalized desktop workplaces to hundreds of users without having to commit excessive development resources, Weeks said. “In addition to substantially reducing our administrative costs by eliminating paper-based processes, we have also greatly enhanced communications across the enterprise in ways that will improve RadioShack Canada’s bottom-line performance,” she said. RadioShack Canada, which has more than 900 stores and 3,000 employees, is a division of Intertan Canada Ltd.

The portal supports a range of workflow activities, including employees filling out vacation request forms, dealers viewing real-time updates of product and pricing information, and district managers monitoring store performance. RadioShack Canada said it plans to develop additional portal features, including publication of French-language content for its Quebec operations.
