In a move to evolve the company beyond its pop-up advertising origins, Claria Corp. has named a new management team to head up a strategy change and the launch of a new product. Overseeing the expected beta launch next quarter of PersonalWeb, a permission-based, consumer software appliance that dynamically creates personalized start pages for web users, are Scott VanDeVelde, who has been named CEO and president, and Scott Eagle, named executive vice president.
VanDeVelde has served as Claria’s senior vice president of global sales for the past five years. Previously, he was with Catalina Marketing. Eagle, formerly with Procter & Gamble, has served as Claria’s chef marketing officer. “My goal is to not only to see Claria continue to help lead the development of industry best practices around the adware model, but to evolve out of the pop-up business and begin using our personalization technology to deliver a truly personalized web experience for consumers,” says VanDeVelde.
As part of the reorganization at Claria, Jason Fairchild, vice president of business development, will lead Claria’s partnership initiatives with online publishers. Fairchild was previously vice president of business development at the Overture division of Yahoo.
