Online sales growth slows for week ending Aug 7
Online retail sales took a break from their torrid growth of the past few months, increasing only 8% year-over-year during the first week of August.
Online sales for the week ending Aug. 7 reached $1.2 billion from $1.11 billion a year ago, comScore Networks Inc. reports.
By comparison, total retail sales for the week ending Aug. 6 were up 5.8% from the same week a year ago, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate. ShopperTrak notes that that week marked 30 out of 31 weeks so far this year that experienced year-over-year increases in sales.
Online travel sales for week ending Aug. 7 were up 1% to $1.24 billion from $1.22 billion in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
