The goods, the fads and the Yugly
E-commerce merchant Yugster.com, known for its home page-consuming “deal of the day,” has added to its e-commerce site online video, a technology being embraced by a growing number of e-retailers. Yugster.com, which primarily sells computer and electronics goods, is using online video to demonstrate products for shoppers. The online video section of the site is dubbed Video Yug. The merchant, which describes itself as “a web site that sells stuff at Yugly prices,” also showcases a blog.
Since launching Video Yug in late December, the few dozen online videos at Yugster.com, operated by PCSecurityShield Inc., have garnered high rankings on the retailer’s site, attracted thousands of new visitors to the site and its community, and have racked up thousands of clicks on YouTube.com, where the videos also have been posted, the company says.
“We’re able to help our customers understand better what they’re buying, with useful videos showcasing the product’s ease, functionality and cool factor,” says founder Arthur Frischman. “A VideoYug also serves as a valuable resource after purchase, as a demonstration of product use and installation.”
Demonstration videos for parent company PCSecurityShield’s security software products are in the works.
