Drugstore.com offers free expedited shipping nationwide
Drugstore.com Inc. is offering free, three-day shipping for customers who spend $49 or more in one order. Drugstore already had a free-shipping offer on orders over $49, but West Coast customers could wait up to eight days for their orders, while East Coast customers, by virtue of their proximity to Drugstore’s distribution center in Swedesboro, NJ, usually received their orders within two days.
This equalizes the level of service throughout the nation, a Drugstore spokesman says. “We considered going to multiple distribution points like Amazon does, but decided this was a more cost effective solution,” he says. The additional shipping costs will be absorbed as part of Drugstore’s marketing expenses, he says.
The free shipping offer does not apply to prescription drugs, contact lenses and certain other products. Products eligible for free shipping are flagged. To obtain free shipping, customers choose the standard shipping option at checkout.
