How web-based collaboration increases supply chain efficiency for vendors
Retailers and their trading partners continue to take steps toward more collaboration in the supply chain. Delta Faucet Co. reports that its use of collaborative software from JDA Software Group Inc. has enabled it to significantly increase the speed at which it fulfills orders for retailers. "We have seen close to a 40% improvement in picking efficiencies," said Greg Williams, collaboration planner for Delta Faucet.
Williams said implementation of software applications from JDA’s Portfolio Collaborative Solutions suite enables Delta to have loads ready for shipment earlier than in the past, resulting in faster order turn-around times for customer Ace Hardware Corp.
At Master Lock Co., use of the JDA collaborative software has resulted in on-time and complete deliveries of often difficult to fulfill special promotional orders, said Jim Herzfeldt, retail operations manager. "We gain visibility and flexibility into the quantities and timing of the individual shipments," he said. "We managed to maintain 100% on-time and 100% fill rates for promotional orders. This alone has saved us thousands of dollars in air freight costs by spotting trends and identifying items."
