J. Crew’s December web sales grow 24% vs. 4% growth in total sales


J. Crew Group Inc. today reports that Internet sales in December were up 24.3% from December last year to $26.1 million while total revenue was up 4.3% to $132 million and comparable store sales were down 6.1%. Web-based revenue in December accounted for 19.8% of sales vs. 16.8% a year ago.

For the first 11 months of J. Crew’s fiscal year, sales were down 1.3% to $732.6 million from $742.1 million a year ago, while web-based revenue was up 13.9% to $131.5 million from $115.5 million. For the first 11 months, the web accounted for 17.9% of sales, up from 15.6% a year ago.

Catalog sales were flat in December and down 19.8% for the first 11 months.

“We`re making progress on focusing our assortments and leveraging our multi-channel business, which will continue to be top priorities in the new year," said Ken Pilot, CEO.
