E-commerce growth runs way past overall at Brown Shoe
Second quarter 2006 sales at Shoes.com Inc. hit $11.9 million, a 78% increase over $6.7 million in last year’s second quarter. Sales at parent company Brown Shoe Co. increased only 2.8% to $59.5 million in Q2 2006 compared with $57.9 million in the second quarter of 2005. Web sales represent 20% of Brown Shoe’s Q2 2006 sales.
Improvement in overall sales can be attributed to growth in e-commerce sales as well as a favorable impact of the Canadian exchange rate, the company says.
Shoes.com, No. 192 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, reached sales of $34.6 million in 2005, a 95.5% increase over sales of $17.7 million in 2004.
