E-commerce veteran Shelley Nandkeolyar takes the head job at Norm Thompson


Norm Thompson Outfitters Inc. has appointed veteran e-commerce and direct marketing manager Shelley Nandkeolyar as its CEO.

He replaces John Emrick, who remains as chairman of the board of directors of Norm Thompson, No. 117 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. Nandkeolyar began his duties Feb. 5.

Nandleolyar formerly was president of Home Depot Direct. He initially joined Home Depot as vice president of interactive marketing and e-business, charged with redesigning HomeDepot.com. Prior to joining Home Depot Nandkeolyar was executive vice president and president of Internet/direct commerce at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and responsible for the company’s direct commerce business segment, which included Marthstewart.com and the Martha by Mail catalog.

Nandkeolyar, a 20-year veteran in marketing and merchandising, launched Williams-Sonoma’s online business including WilliamsSonoma.com, PotteryBarn.com and PotteryBarnKids.com. Before joining Williams-Sonoma, he held marketing positions in Asia and Europe as well as North America, including a development stint on the direct-to-consumer business involving catalog and online channels, at Levi Strauss and Co.

Golden Gate Capital, a San Francisco private equity investment firm with approximately $2.5 billion of capital under management, acquired Norm Thompson in March 2006.
