Serena Software names Jeremy Burton president and CEO
Jeremy Burton, a former senior executive at security software vendor Symantec Corp., has been named president and CEO of Serena Software Inc., a provider of technology used to manage modifications to web site software and other applications across an enterprise.
Burton succeeds Michael Capellas, who has served as acting president and CEO since December, when he filled in for president and CEO Mark Woodward, who resigned. Capellas has returned to his position as senior advisor for investment firm Silver Lake Partners, which acquired Serena last year.
“Jeremy has extensive experience at leading large scale application software businesses, but he also possesses the rare ability to be able to technically define product strategy, development, and delivery on a global level,” Capellas says.
Burton, 39, most recently served as group president, enterprise security and data management for Symantec. He had joined Symantec through its acquisition of Veritas, where he had served in senior positions including executive vice president for data management and chief marketing officer.
Earlier, Burton spent nine years at Oracle Corp., where his final position was senior vice president of products and services marketing.
Serena’s customers include GSI Commerce Inc., a web site developer and operator that uses Serena’s software to manage modifications across its web infrastructure.
