Albertsons names former Newgistics CEO to head supply chain operations
C.J. "Gabe" Gabriel, former president, CEO and chairman of Newgistics Inc., a provider of logistics technology for direct-to-consumer retailers, has joined grocer Albertsons Inc. as executive vice president, supply chain. "Gabe will lead Albertsons to new levels of supply chain excellence, which is critical to our ability to grow sales and market share," said Peter Lynch, president and COO.
Gabriel, who replaces the retiring Tom Brother, joins Albertsons at a time when the grocer is aggressively expanding its online consumer sales operations, which could particularly benefit from his experience at Newgistics. Gabriel left Newgistics last month without publicly stating his reason. Newgistics replaced him with
Ray Greer, formerly president of the global network solutions and services division at i2 Technologies Inc.
While at Newgistics, Gabriel led an international joint venture comprised of four Fortune 100 companies specializing in leading-edge supply chain management technology for multi-channel retailers and b2b reverse logistics. Before Newgistics, Gabriel held supply chain management and logistics positions at Pepsico, American Hospital Supply and Corporate Express.
