Microsoft bundles Citibank service into small-retail automation package

Microsoft Corp. is taking aim at small retailers with its new Microsoft Retail Management System, which the company was promoting at the NRF’s Annual Convention & Expo in New York this week. As part of the deal for the target market of retailers with 1 to 25 stores, Microsoft is integrating Citibank Merchant Services credit card acceptance package into the Retail Management System. The agreement waives application, enrollment, conversion and set-up fees and offers discount rates of 1.69% plus 23 cents for Visa and MasterCard transactions at the retail point of sale, 2.25% plus 23 cents for MOTO/Internet transactions, 2.55% plus 23 cents for Visa/MasterCard Commercial Card transactions and 2.85% for Diners Club and Carte Blanche transactions.

Microsoft’s Retail Management System offers a suite of services to small retailers to automate operations and tie together store operations, inventory and finance. The system uses an HTML interface and allows the retailer to communicate with suppliers and move other information via the web. Microsoft offers the Retail Management System for store operations and for headquarters functions.
