Many couch potatoes watching the Super Bowl on Sunday won’t even get the exercise of a trip to the supermarket for snacks, reports supermarket chain Alberstons Inc.
"We are receiving exceptionally heavy demand for Sunday e-commerce deliveries," said Charla Giles, area vice president for the Albertsons district based in San Diego. "It seems that people just don't want to leave their homes this Sunday.”
Giles said the local Albertsons.com operation has added drivers and vehicles in anticipation of what it expects to be the biggest e-commerce day of the year. She says managers in other areas throughout the west where Albertsons offers online shopping report a similar phenomenon.
