Double-digit increase in visits at 7 of top 10 computer hardware sites
Visits to six of the top 10 online computer hardware manufacturers’ sites increased by double digits in May, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Intel led the group with a 56% increase to 1.36 million visits from 870,000 in May 2004.
PalmOne experienced the second largest increase, with visits rising 31% to 1.42 million from 1.08 million a year earlier; followed by Motorola, up 30% to 1.16 million from 893,000; Apple, up 26% to 24.67 million from 19.51 million; Dell, up 17% to 14.33 million from 12.21 million; and Toshiba, up 13.9% to 1.31 million from 1.15 million.
Gateway experienced the largest decline in site visits, dropping 32% to 1.74 million from 2.56 million a year earlier; followed by IBM, down16.2% to 2.27 million from 2.71 million; and Hewlett Packard, down 3.3% to 11.9 million from 12.31 million.
Apple recorded the most traffic, followed by Dell, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Mylinks.com (1.8 million visits), Gateway, palmOne, Intel, Toshiba, and Motorola.
In the top 10 ranked by time per visit, Toshiba led with 1 hour, 9 minutes, 34 seconds; followed by Apple, 45 minutes, 30 seconds; IBM, 30 minutes, 42 seconds; Alienware.com, 27 minutes, 28 seconds; ATI, 21 minutes, 54 seconds; Nintendo, 20 minutes, 29 seconds; palmOne, 19 minutes, 11 seconds; Dell, 18 minutes, 14 seconds; XM Satellite Radio, 15 minutes, 41 seconds; and Hewlett Packard, 14 minutes, 2 seconds.
Also in May, the books, movies and music segment had the most online ad impressions in the retail goods and service industry, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance Report. The leading segments in the report and their number of impressions in millions:
