PC Mall posts a modest gain in 2006 e-commerce sales as total sales rise 1%

PC Mall, a direct marketer of personal computers and related gear, is reporting modest growth in e-commerce sales for 2006.

In 2006, web sales for PC Mall Inc., No. 62 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, rose 2.96% to $167.9 million from $162.7 million in the prior year.

At the same time, total sales rose by only 0.86% to $1.005 billion in 2006 from $997.2 million in the prior year. PC Mall posted consolidated net sales of $295.3 million for Q4 2006, an increase of 13% from consolidated net sales of $261.6 million in Q4 2005. Adjusted non-GAAP consolidated net income for Q4 2006, which excludes a $1 million after-tax lawsuit settlement charge and a $200,000 after-tax stock compensation expense, was $3 million, an increase of $1.6 million compared with net income of $1.4 million in Q4 2005.

“We are very pleased with our Q4 2006 results especially our core business,” says PC Mall president and CEO Frank Khulusi. “We were able to accomplish these results in part by increasing our account executive productivity and reducing our sales, general and administrative expenses through a reduction of labor cost from our Philippine initiative and increased advertising efficiency.”

Overall, the web accounted for 17% of total net sales in 2006 vs. 16% in 2005 and 14% in 2004.
