That drives up the average order value

How large a purchase are consumers willing to make online? Pretty large, says online diamond retailer Union Diamond Corp. The company reports that for the third time in three months, a customer has bought a $250,000 ensemble of jewelry at UnionDiamond.com.

The most recent sale, which was just under $250,000, was for the purchase of a platinum and diamond ensemble consisting of a six carat tennis bracelet, a 3.04 carat solitaire engagement ring and a 2.85 carat matching solitaire earrings.

"These past three months have proven that shopping for jewelry on the Internet is reaching a new level," says Scott Anderson, president & CEO of Union Diamond. "Our clients have discovered that the Union Diamond brand is one associated with quality and longevity, and we’re excited to see what the next three months will hold."

Atlanta-based Union Diamond has an inventory of 40,000 diamonds with prices ranging from $300 to $500,000.
